Season I
……At last Leila stood up from the bed, Actually, this one made me fall in love with her, she had an hourglass figure, round face, glittering small eyes, long natural hair, flat tummy, it’s only that I lacked enough words to describe her, but she as fine.
Suddenly, there was a doorbell ring, we remained silent, from far you could notice there was someone trying to open the door with the door handle. All that time, I was still in bed, Leila run and picked her dress from the floor and covered herself, someone popped in.
Season II
It was Jose “Hey guys breakfast is ready,” he said. “Where are we Jose?” I asked him while moving from the bed, “Tuko kwangu” he answered while turning back to the door he entered with, He didn’t take long in the room since Leila was kinda halfway dressed. By this time I didn’t know who Jose was. I needed to know more from him. So I asked Leila if maybe she has a clue of him. Leila was collecting her earing which was on the floor putting them in her pouch. Btw who is Jose? I asked Leila while putting on my hood. Downstairs I had my white short the one I bought at gikomba before nijoin campo, but ilikuwa supuu sana though ilikuwa inakaa izi booty shorts za wasichana but I was okay with it, after all, who cares????
“Hey Don! You mean you don’t know him?..??? I thought you knew him before….”? Okay, Jose nimemjua through Naomi, he has been
picking and dropping us to town, Naomi told me ni mtoto wa mwenye Vila Rosa Hotel yenye iko opposite Chiromo funeral parlor. I never knew what Vila Rosa was. Apo ndio nilichukua simu ya Leila, haikuwa na password or even pattern, mbio nikagoogle nijue what Vila Rosa was, I realized it’s one of the Top star Hotel and Restaurants within the “cirry” by the time Leila was narrating all that she was taking shower, I never bothered to answer her, apo ndio nilijua kuna bedroom ukuwa na washroom na bathroom inside.
Don’t blame me, I was used to zile bafu za ushago, zenye you have to put water in bucket then unaekelea towel kwa shoulders alaf unasonga, kwanza mostly ukuwa far, sasa inabidi umepunzika like twice before ufike ju hata bucket yenyewe haina handle, kitu is igne funny azinaga mlango, so mostly ukuwa tu kagunia kamehung instead of mlango, kwanza i even remember there this particular time nilisahau na sabuni nikienda kuoga, kuruda sabuni nikapata punda amekunywa maji yangu ya kuoga, anyway that’s a story for another day.
With my white short and my hood, I followed Jose to the door he exited. I found him in the sitting room, he was playing play station (PS) with one of his male friend whom he introduced me as his cousin. I guess Naomi was in the kitchen since I could hear clangor of utensils. On the dining table which was not far from the living room, there was boiled eggs, sausage, hash browns, and processed cheese. Before I could comfortably sit on the three seater which was next to Jose, Laila entered the living room from the bedroom. Naomi entered the dining table with a huge flash. Upon seeing Leila, she smiled while looking at her and said “Hey na mmelala kama Watoto wa governor” we all laughed as she entered the kitchen.
Naomi was wearing a white booty short which matched with my short and a red Arsenal jersey which also matched with the same color as the one Jose was wearing, though the one for Jose was for Manchester united. Like five minutes, Jose defeated his cousin, he left after the defeat. “Unajifeel na game Don” Jose asked me while holding the two pads. I didn’t know what to answer him simply because I never knew what the PS was.”Maybe later after breakfast sai sijifeel ” he felt satisfied with my answer. Naomi joined Leila in kitchen. This is when I got the chance to know who Naomi and Leila were.
“Leila ni mtoto wa vice chancellor wa apa Uon. She’s is a first year second semester (1.2) apa Uon. Walikuwa wanakaa majuu since amalize high school. ” What, you mean Leila? I found myself interrupting Jose, “Eeh, mbona?” he added. He continued, “Walikam Kenya last year after elections, so sai anafanya Bachelors Degree in International Relations, but nimeskia bado akona degree igne ya IT thought sijajua kama ni ukweli. In fact her parents wanakaa side za Kileleshwa, it’s just 15 minutes drive from here”, from my knowledge back at home when I was grazing, my bearing told me we were in Riverside.
“I thought mliuana usiku”, I nodded my head for disagreement,” So hata bado hujaninii…….!!” I just smiled because I knew where he was ending. “Naye Naomi ako 2nd year still Uon anafanya Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) but ako Lower Kabete campus. Huyo naye ni mtoi wa ministry of Foreign Affairs. They stay in Runda estate. Both Laila and Naomi’s parents are close friends to my my dad. Both Naomi and Leila wanakaa apa next to State House Girls place inaitwa Citizens.
All that time I was looking at Jose, I never believed whatever he was saying. I never imagined even dream of being with such people with them. Everything to me seemed to be nightmares. The furniture in the living room proved whatever Jose was talking about. 148 inches curved Samsung screen mounted on the wall, spongy leather coaches, expensive tea table, the mackBook laptop on the table, home theatre system, wool carpet just to mention a few spoke in volume. I was like this kind of people wakishikana kama watano they can comfortably pay Ile deni tukonayo ya China. anyway that one was interrupted by words Jose had told me earlier about Leila, from my flashback (kisengele nyuma) this Leila must be the old high school lover. But if it’s her how comes she never recognized me? But I said to my inner me, acha nitulie since I was sure what goes around comes around again true love never fades. I knew God’s time is the best so I remained positive and optimistic.
My phone was off so I confirmed the time with Jose, it was 10:24am, ” na masaa imeenda haraka, Hey ladies in kitchen are bacons ready” Jose asked them while yawning, Naomi replied “Yeah” while holding a tray of slices of bacon Leila was behind her holding three teacups. We both assembled in the dining table. Naomi requested me to lead them with a word of prayer in which Leila interrupted, “Hey, I’ll pray on his behalf”
After breakfast, we started discussing how the previous night was. On my side, I had nothing much to contribute to the topic because I went blackout. According to the videos, I could see how violent I was when one of the guys in club tried to dance with Leila. We almost fought. “Na inakaa Don uko trained karate,” Naomi asked me while collecting utensils on the table. In back of my mind I knew when I was in high school I used to attend Tae Kwon Do classes but I kept it for myself.”I can smell our protector around” Jose seconded while pulling my left ear.
By 11:03am Jose dropped me next to All Saints Cathedral Church. I crossed the road and went along processional way heading to school hostels. I was staying in Room No. 112 of Tom Mboya Hostel well knows as Hall 9. Before the hostel gate which was just a few meters to ladies cloth lines, I met one of Fellowship friend.
We were staying in the same Hostel but different room. His name was Mike Ngio aka Dj Bamboo, he was my old primary school as well. He was a second-year student doing a Bachelor Degree in Biochemistry. Since I joined campus, he was in the first line to encourage me not to miss the fellowship and church services and mission as well. He was the kind of friend to keep.”Hey Don, uko aje na umekuwa wapi since jana I haven’t seen you in your room, I even found your laptop kwa bed, are you coming for the fellowship? Make sure you don’t miss please” he was talking while walking toward the Hall, the one next to Stella Awinja Hostels. “Yeah am coming, let me go and change”, I assured him. I was so sure I can’t make it I was feeling sleepy, tired, neusea, weak and I needed some rest.
With the support of steel metal on the stairs, I found myself on the 4th floor of Hall 9, in my room, I wasn’t closed, meaning my roomates were around. I was staying with Adpalmer and Charles well knows as “kyalo”. I went straight to my bed, I was feeling bothered since yesterday I have talked to my mom. At around 1:12pm kyalo opened the door carrying two plates of pilau. Kyalo was a nice guy caring as well. “Don jana ulipotelea wapi na hujaonekana around ama umepatana na wale slays wa chuo wakuchanua?” he said while putting the two plates on the table. From how I was feeling, I couldn’t even answer him, I kept looking at him, I clicked while facing the wall side.” Ukisolve issues zako food ndio hio kwa table utajisort” this is when I realized guys cannot comfort you like girls do, but I can’t complain it’s their nature.
Around 4:30pm I was awoken by a call from my mom, she wanted to know how is the going, I assume her am okay then hung up the phone. To the bed below mine, was seated Mike, Adpalmer, and Kyalo. After I was through with my food I explained to them what happened previous night but they told me that was part of life so nothing big to worry about. I felt encouraged. Thanks, Kyalo, Mike and Adpalmer.
Jose was doing Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, the same course I was doing though he was ahead of me. We used to meet with Leila mostly in class since we shared some of the units. Most of my time I used to spend it with Leila, she was a nice lady. After class, we used to go to the Student Centre for lunch or even a cup of tea. Laila used to pay my bills something which most ladies feel it’s hard to do. Despite being from well up family, she has never shown herself to people. She was a “low-key” girl.
Days went by, I learned how to drive, sometimes I could ask the Jose for his car so that I can pick Leila after class. Dropping off and picking her after class, made most of the guys who needed to talk to Leila hard time. I never bothered since I knew haters complete my circle.
Opposite my hostel, there were a ladies hostels, it was Hall 5. To the 5th floor of it, there was Lilian Mwende and Harmony the close friends and coursemate to Leila. When Leila had no class, the only place you could find her was in my room or with Lilian and Harmony. In most cases, she used to spend nights with them. I liked them they were the type of girls whom you can’t get bored having them around.
Few months after being with Jose, Naomi and Leila everything changed, from hangouts, clads, places of lunch, dinner and the kind of food we used t take. As usual ukiwa in that league, most of the people need to be with you. Most of class fine girls become too friendly to me something which made Leila mad at some point. Leila knew my class time table so, every time towards my class she used to remind me.
I was good in maths, so during group work, everyone wanted to be in the group I was.to me they needed academic support of which I never turned them down. But kuna time ilifika nikaona maybe they’re falling for me coz ya kukuja na BMW or Jose ananidrop nayo class?
Leila was not a fun of chatting so most of the night she used to video call me or even make a normal call, unlike Naomi whom we used to chat. She used to tell me how Leila loves me. In my mind I knew since tumit na Leila it’s like three months, we used to spend in my room more than 20 times, same bed, other times tunaenda kwake, tunaenda countless outs, dinners na sijawahi mwambia nampenda, I swear apo niliact umama baana.
Leila was a straight forward lady she used to show me the chats of guys who wanted to with her. Most of them had everything, long beards handsome but she chosed poor me. Wallai apo ndio nilijua dem akishakupenda amekupenda. She made me believe true Love exist. I was so sure she could have left me long-time ago but she was still there for me. i swear if it were most of these campus girls, kijana wenu hata group stages awezi pita.
xxxxxxxxxxx
It was after we were through with our end of semester exams. Leila was going to her parent’s place since there was a family trip to Seychelles.it was scheduled to be on the following week on Monday. So definitely she was to leave before Sunday so she can prepare for it.
So on this Friday evening, she called me. She needed to see me before she leaves. It was around 4pm by this time she was in Lilian and Harmony room. I knew she had passed in my room before going to her friends. I was in Rongai with Jose. I told her to give me like 2 hours coz Rongai ni far plus jam, she was patient enough coz she agreed.
I remember our hostel gate ufungwa at 10pm. It was 9:53pm according to the wall clock on Lily’s room. I was to pass by Stella Awinja Hostels to pick my laptop from Jemoh (a friend of mine from Tuk) who had borrowed to keep her “Mama” busy after exams. Si unajua vile campo form ukuwa ni kuwatch movies, series alaf sleepovers mse….. Enyewe campus life ukuwa tamu at times.
Lily was sitting seating on her bed which is just adjacent to the exit door. Since I stepped my feet on that room at around 7pm, I found Lily sitting on her bed watching something of which I came to realize it was……Hahaha!! Your guess is good as mine. At times she could make unnecessary movements on her bed. She had her earphones on her ears. She kept removing them once in a while just to try to listen to something. She could place them back and continue listening and watching.
Harmony was changing to her nightdress. I don’t know whether it was intentional or she just assumed me coz from where I was seated I was facing to the direction she was. Leila was facing me, so obvious she never noticed Harmony was changing. From the point i was the views were clear. Half of her thighs were visible from the short nightdress she was wearing. From the look of things, she had no her inner wear. Sometimes ladies why tempt us? why?.
From the close range, I could see her nipple piercing her nightdress. The wall cleavage could be seen and part of her huge boobs was displayed to boychild. That one raised my goosebumps.Kumbe nayo usifi ni real, I wanted to assume that Leila wasn’t around but nikaona apana sio poa.
Despite displaced parts, Harmony was blessed with curved natural assets though she couldn’t beat Leila. She had nice sitting allowance “booty” like most boys in street call it. I was even wondering how on earth can someone walk comfortably with such burden behind her. Anyway, elephants never complain of their tasks. I swear if not that I had some control plus morals nikifunza church na Pastor Kula, Harmony ungenitia kwa trap wewe.
“Don this necklace looks familiar” I remembered that day I had worned the necklace my old Leila send her cousin to me before leaving Kenya. She was looking at me so closely, all that time I was silent, my senses could tell this is my old Leila. My feelings never lied to me that we were both in love, It’s only that I never took the friendship to the next level, I think this was the right time. All this time I was talking to inner me.
“You’re lucky to have a nice guy Leila”Harmony the curved lady broke the silence. “He’s cute, he has a nice smile, he’s caring……” she still added. I could hear my ancestors clapping. I just smiled at her. I knew that was a “goal goal” thing. All that time Leila was lying on my chest, she had nice titties. This was the second time I came close to her since the day we spend together the day we were both drunk.”Aww! Thanks babe” Leila replied to the compliment by the curved lady.”Lakini usiniibie bwana”, she added while holding my short beards on my chin.
“Don, do you remember the days we used to steal mangoes, kwenda poshomil (tutu/kithii), kulisha pamoja, kuchota maji then all over sudden tukapoteleanwa, the way she narrated those memories with a soft voice, nilifeel tu mapenzi, she really touched my inner soul. By this time, I was on my last sip of Savanna juice she had served me earlier.
Bye bye Lily and Harmony, see you tomorrow. “Good night sweetheart wetu, hata ungelala tu uende kesho kwanza ningekusongea ju Leila ukuwa amejaza bed na haga…” Harmony said while opening the door for me.”unajua unaeza chukua bwana ya mtu na mchezo tu” Leila said while putting on a grey hood we bought pale Odeon. We descended from the 5th floor of Hall Hostel, the corridors lights were not functioning. It was totally dark. Most of the rooms had lights off. Probably most of the occupants had gone out because it was on a Friday and the Holly one remaining were having their evening prayers in the hall or maybe they were asleep. There was no movement on the stairs only cats could be heard from a distance with noisy sounds. The zero movement gave me a nice chance to hold Laila close to me. She gave me a warm hug, tight one for that matter. Her heart was beating fast, she kissed my neck, my cheeks and then landed on my lips. I started feeling weird baridi “heeey nitaambia watu nini……” that sentence kept repeating itself in my mind. This was strange to me. I didn’t know where to start. I started breathing hard like a donkey pulling farming plough. I remembered there was this Mexican Soap Opera I was following it gave me some tactics on how to how my girl.
I put my left hand in her back and my right hand to her wrist. I positioned myself in a way I couldn’t fell down during this ceremony, you know she had a huge body than me plus nice sitting allowance so definitely i had to stand firmly. I kissed her nicely in her sweet lips like 3 minutes, she lied to my chest, this is when I get a chance to whisper some three good words she has been waiting to hear from me. “I LOVE YOU” She whispered back, “Babe I LOVE YOU TOO” I swear akunaga moment ukuwa tamu kama hio, yaani unafeel akuna mse anaeza kakuambia anything… Wueeh! Inaitwa mapenzi buana. Back to the story.
That time I was still brething hard, even one of the colleague in room no. 96 in the 2nd floor switched the lights on. Am sure she was scared. Am sorry colleague it wasn’t intentional, I was possed with love. I remembered my grandfather once told me never lose such precious opportunity, (thanks grandpa Mwambu) I looked her directly to her eyes, I smiled called her by her three names, “Princess Leila Kimani I love you and mean my words, I love you today than yesterday and tomorrow than today, I promise to be there for you, fight for you and fight for our love to last, your mine forever” I made a vow without knowing.
I swear it was damn dark but I could see her sexy eyes full of tears and a nice smile. Sikuwahi imagine siku moja naeza feel msichana wa wenyewe alie ju ya mapenzi. But this day I did, I even noted the date in my personal diary, it was on a Friday 22nd November 2014.
“Babe,.. I…” before she could even finish her statement, there was a loud bang of door. “let’s go babe” she whispered, na ivo ndio shetani aliingia sasa. I tried to move but my legs couldn’t move an inch. Am sure vile nilikuwa nafeel ndio Samson wa Bible alifeel after kunyolewa na Delilah. She dragged me downstairs.
We were on the last step to stairs on the 1st floor when I a huge man with a big tummy, with beards (Rick Ross style), with shoes number 13 approached us. The guy noticed Leila.
“Where are you doing, what are you doing here at night?”Before I could answer her on her behalf she warned with a finger to keep quiet, Leila was shaking because of fear. I warned the guy not to harm her, I was responsible for everything. He exchanged the car keys to the left hand, I was even trembling, my joints were weak, if it were not for Leila I could have been on the floor.
I couldn’t even imagine fighting with him, like most people do when in trouble I said a short prayer, “Lord let this cup pass away from me, I don’t deserve to die” I didn’t know if I said it loudly or silent but the last thing I heard from Leila was “Amen”
I was on the floor, the guy lifted me up with his one hand, the guy gave me three punches on my face, I always shed tears when I remember this day. I started seeing stars on the ceiling board. Nilitamani Mungu anikujie vile alikujia Elijah. I was innocent, I did nothing wrong to him, I never deserved what I was going through.
I tried to support myself with the wall but he was too fast, he maintained his power punches on my head and face, he added another two kicks on my chest. I felt pain running through Aorta and lumber vatebra. Why! Why! Why me??? I thought it was my time to die. At times ladies give us courage coz I swear if it were not for Leila, I could have escaped long, long time ago.
“WIN OR WIN” Was a slogan I used when I was attending Tae Kwo Do classes. The slogan gave me strength and courage. Before I could even wake up he added one punch to my tummy, I vomited some blood. Leila tried to lift me up but he got a slap from the guy. “Si huyu mse atakumaliza” my ancestors were talking to me. I remember I vowed to fight for Leila up to my last drop of blood and this was time to prove my words. I knew wining this fight needed some sacrifice, not even sacrifice but a sacrifice of my blood and body. I have no other option than to fight. The way I was serious nose bleeding, my mouth and left ear was also bleeding. Hata ingekuwa ni wewe vita kama hii uwezi pigana mse.
Apo ndio nilisema kama Mungu alikuwa ametuma Malaika wake wanikujie, awaambie wanipee 10 more minutes tusafiri pamoja na hii ndume.
I removed my hoodie, Gucci shoes, my navy blue jeans nikapea Leila, I was left with my white short and a White vest. The corridor looked like a wrestling ring. Many people were standing by the sides. Is true that most people knew me coz they were calling my name, I could hear the voice of Mike, kyalo, and Adpalmer. It’s only they also feared this guy, they could have helped me.
This was Do or Die fight, A fight to death, only the strong to survive. I was confused in a way I could not even remember a single fighting skill. I heard Mike and kyalo shouting, “use eagle fist or playing mantis bruh” if you know karate, Tae Kwo Do or martial arts you can remember the styles. Thanks bro kyalo and Mike.
Those styles were the deadliest style ever to finish your opponent, I maintained my standing position “timing”.
By end of my first and second attack, everyone was shouting my name, Don, Don Don……. I didn’t know the reason but am sure you can guess why were calling my name.
From the point Leila was standing holding my clothes, I could see a smile in her face. I can tell this guy was wondering how I managed to land on his balls and left eye as well. I wanted to finish him with my flying eagle kicks but I remember he also has a family, they needed him as my family and Leila needed me. I laid him two round kicks on his shoulders which made him helplessly on the floor. He was crying like a little baby for help but nobody could help as everyone was on his / her phone recording.
I felt as if am king Mswati of Swaziland. I stood by the right side of room no. 86 of Hall 5 Hostel, all the eyes were at me. My opponent whom I came to realize was a secret admirer of Leila and Chiromo campus Mafia was lying on the cracked floor with a damaged face, broke limp his blood flowing to room no. 82. Leila came running to me, she hugged me, by that time I saw Kyalo and Mike coming while smiling…… “You are a just a Man,” kyalo said it jokingly.
Before we could even get out of hostel compound, two guys approached us they told me,,,”Nice work brother, remember one thing…. it’s just the beginning, get ready……” I realized kyalo and Mike had already disappeared, I was only left with Leila. With my deadly flying kicks I……
